PSNI Memorial Garden

Hall McKnight Architects were commissioned in January 2012 to design a garden as a memorial to members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland who have died in service. The site is located within the grounds of the PSNI Headquarters; a challenging context in which to create an appropriately peaceful and reflective setting for a memorial.

Enclosure of the space with a high timber screen evokes a sense of intimacy, and along with the retention of a mature copper beech, creates a setting for a dark glass pavilion where brass plates commemorate the officers who have lost their lives. The materials used are iroko, back–enamelled glass and Irish limestone.

The project was completed in November 2012.
